The current advice from the government is that the UK is in the early stages of the coronavirus epidemic and it is expected to rise sharply over the next four weeks and peak in May and early June.
This is the period when we have planned to walk the first three or four stages of the Heart of England Way, using coach travel to get to and from our destinations. In view of this, your committee has debated deferring the start of this year's trail walk until later in the year but we are aware that many of our trail walkers enjoy the challenge of completing the entire trail during the course of the year. Consequently we have decided to postpone the currently planned 2020 HoE walk in its entirety until 2021. Anyone who has already paid for their coach seats will be fully refunded.
Depending on how the situation develops we may be able to look at putting on a shorter trail walk for 2020, say 30 - 40 miles, starting in the summer months.
We are sorry to have to announce this but the first priority of each and everyone of us is to take all precautions to keep safe and well during this unprecedented crisis.
