We are trying very hard to put on walks and events for 2022 all of which cannot be successful without our members on board. Your elected committee have come up with some new ideas you might like to join. Please go to our website Home - Worcester Ramblers, https://www.worcesterramblers.org.uk/ which is ever changing and see if any of the activities, walks or indeed volunteering to lead a walk interest you.
There is help available if you should wish to take us up on leading a walk, or running an event, just contact one of our committee via Contact Us - Worcester Ramblers link found on our website front/home page. We are a very friendly bunch and we don't bite! Happy to listen to new ideas! Looking forward to seeing you out in the countryside where your safety will be most paramount.
We all want life to return to normal so lets get out there with our members and kick this virus into touch!
Hope to see you soon
Your Committee
Worcester Area are looking to update their web pages on the Ramblers website with a new image.
They are looking for an image which ‘shows off’ Worcestershire Area and what it has to offer Walkers
It has to be a good quality digital image and show a location in Worcestershire which is suitably eye-catching, ideally with happy ramblers in it.
If you would like to submit any images to Ann Marks, Group Secretary. Area committee will then select the winning image.
There are no prizes, but the winner will have the honour of knowing that their photo represents the best of Worcestershire on the Ramblers website.
p.s. we may need to obtain permission from anyone “featuring” in the winning photo if they can be identified.
Risk Assessments no longer need to be published on the website, however if you prefer to still upload it you can. But as all good walk leaders will know a Risk Assessment is part and parcel of leading a walk. Therefore in line with Ramblers Head Office advice walk leaders should still complete a risk assessment form and retain it for three years. For further advice please speak to a committee member.
Bookings now being taken for our Summer Event and Barbecue on 25th June 2022, don't miss out!
Please send your booking form or choices to Jane Vickers. June 11th 2022 will be your last chance to add you name to our Summer get together.
Walks to plan:-
Snowdrop Walk (February)
Daffodil Walk (March)
Bluebell Walk (May)
Mistletoe Walk (Autumn)
Once a month trail (from March onwards)
Huntsman's Way - once a month March, April & May
Worcestershire Way - once a month June, July & August
Saturday Walks - Try out a 6-7 mile in addition to the longer walks planned. Short Saturday walks will be on a booking system!
We are proposing some walk leader guidance sessions for everyone, from experienced walk leaders to complete novices. These workshops are planned to start next January.
Days we could run them would be Monday to Friday excluding Thursday and the first Monday in the month due to the Work Party. We envisage groups of about 6. The day would involve a walk of 4 to 6 miles (maps will be provided); broken into sections where each participant will lead. The idea will be to brush up on old skills and learn new ones. The day will be flexible with an element of fun.
If you would like to attend please contact either John or Doug giving your preferred day.
Would anyone be interested in walking from Hay on Wye to Glasbury and then canoeing back along the River Wye?
We anticipate it would be a six mile walk out to Glasbury.
Cost would be £25 per person approximately, although there may be a discount depending on numbers.
Please let either John T or Anne W know if you're interested.
